Monitoring Case: Monitoring Groundwater Quality Using Boreholes
It is possible to continuously monitor groundwater quality in the borehole!
In conjunction with the ground improvement work for the facility's reconstruction, concerns arose regarding the impact on groundwater due to the presence of a drinking water well nearby. Therefore, four observation wells were installed to conduct real-time automatic monitoring of five parameters: turbidity, pH, electrical conductivity, water level, and water temperature at each well. For the water quality standard parameters of turbidity and pH, two levels of management criteria were established, and when these were exceeded, a monitoring system was put in place to send alarm emails to relevant parties. The equipment was designed to operate on solar panels and batteries, making it compact and eliminating the need for commercial power supply cables, thereby minimizing the impact on the construction area.
